Forgotten for almost 75 years the Reichswald forest still hides World War II trenches, dugouts and mortar pits, which are all in a remarkable condition.
The Reichswald lies just across the German border from Groesbeek. In September 1944 the 82nd Airborne landed within sight of it, and Allied planners feared German armour hidden in these woods. In February 1945 the forest became a battleground of Operation Veritable, as British and Canadian troops fought their way towards the Rhine.
