Hürtgenwald Restored First Aid Bunker

Exploring an amazing former German army first aid bunker in Simonskall, Hürtgenwald.

Volunteers have painstakingly restored the interior, and it is now in almost pristine condition, as it was in late 1944 before the battle of the Hürtgenwald began.

You can visit this bunker too; it is open every first Sunday of the month from March to November from 12:00 to 16:00. Address: Simonskall 17, Simonskall, Germany.

As a local who has lived in the Operation Market Garden area for most of my life, this battle is now part of my DNA, and I have been studying it for almost 30 years.
